The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a deeply meaningful holiday in the Philippines, and members of our parish from there have always made it a special time for the entire community. The Sunday Mass at Holy Cross on Dec. 8, 2024, the Second Sunday of Advent, featured the congregation presenting flowers to a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the choir performing hymns in Tagalog for the entire service and Filipino families hosting a pot-luck lunch of their favorite meals from home at the after-Mass social. The parish choir, led by Connie Horne, the director of its guitar-based repertoire, sang a range of English and Tagalog hymns on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024 as part of Liebfrauenkirche's annual Advent concert series next to the Frankfurt Christmas market.
